Vigil for Peace
This started out as a late Friday evening event called Night Vision, an opportunity to reflect in a welcoming space. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, we have used the time as a "Vigil for Peace" with conflict zones in mind.
Since the vigils started over 14,000 people have come into St Mary's -some just for a few minutes to light a candle, others for much longer to pray, reflect, have a chat, tell us about their experiences. Many are surprised to find themselves coming into a church during their night out in Guildford but all leave appreciative of the time to reflect. Everyone is welcome.
Some words of encouragement
May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm on your face. May the rains fall softly upon your fields until we meet again. May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
Old Gaelic blessing.
